About Electrolytic Tinplate ( ETP)

A tinplate is a type of steel sheet or strip with a thin, lightweight, and low-carbon structure. It is cold-reduced and coated with pure tin on both surfaces, giving it excellent corrosion resistance, soldering capability, and an attractive appearance. The steel composition used in tinplate is strictly controlled to ensure consistent quality. Different grades and processing methods produce various forms known as "tempers," each with distinct form abilities. Tinplate comes in varying steel thicknesses ranging from about 0.13 mm to 0.60 mm and can be coated with varying tin thicknesses. It can also have other coatings on its two faces to address varying conditions on a container's inner and outer surfaces. Tinplate offers various surface finishes to cater to diverse applications. It undergoes a specialized passivation treatment to stabilize the surface and enhance lacquers' adhesion. A fragile oil film is also applied to the surface to improve its handling and fabrication properties significantly. Due to its multifaceted attributes, tinplate is a versatile material that can be used for various industrial and packaging applications.
